From what I saw and read about these four designers is that all of them are very confident in their work, I can even say a little obsessed about it which makes them what they are today.
Marian Bantjes believes that her work keeps evolving and that she expects it to change a lot over the next few years. Her highly personal, obsessive and sometimes strange graphic work has brought her international recognition. Her work includes an underlying structure and formality that frames its organic nature.
Bruce Mau believes in positive change and he uses design to create that. He sees design in a unconventional way. “Design is the method by which we change things”. He strongly believes that we should let events change us.
Stefan Bucher is very obsessed with his work. When he gets an idea he won’t stop until he gets what he wants or wants to accomplish.
What I though was very interesting about Stefan Sagmeister is the fact that in every seven years he goes on sabbatical. While getting away from routine and visiting another country/culture he reteaches himself about new things and ventures into different cultures and lets his mind breath in all what surrounds him. That for me is very fascinating.
All four designers have different ways of thinking yet somehow they all manage to come to the same conclusion. They all are obsessed/proud with their work and they know exactly how to defend it.

Mercedes-Benz - Super Bowl Ad 2011
A lot of advertising these days have celebrities to endorse more popularity and draw to a bigger audience. For the Ad I chose - Mercedes-Benz for the Super Bowl 2011- the singer Puff Daddy was present.
Mercedes-Benz’s 60 second spot designed to celebrate its 125th anniversary with a launched of 4 new models. It’s the first time that the company has ever advertised during a Super Bowl. In this ad, Mercedes-Benz shows some of the old models and current models, which are escaping from their homes (so to speak) to come see and welcome these new models to the “family”.
As you can clearly see, it’s almost futuristic and you can see the transition from the past to the future. There’s also a build up of emotion throughout the ad, the music keeps getting more and more dramatic until it reaches it’s climax. It almost gives the viewer goosebumps while watching it.
The target market for this as is definitely for car lovers and because it was first aired at a Super Bowl spot, football fans as well.

What is Design?
As we discussed in class, Design and Art have a very thin line between each other although they are different.
Advertising Design is a problem solver which we, as designers, need to find a solution to the “product”.
Design is a way of communication which captures the viewers attention and should provoke a emotional reaction from the crowed. It should be creative, relevant and may or may not be controversial, depending on the design itself.

My Design Progress
These are the steps I take throughout my design process:
- Research
- Sketch out thumbnails
- Pick the best thumbnails and create linears
- Pick the best linear and finalize the design
* When I get writers block I tend to stop working and go watch TV or go for a walk or even look online for things that inspire me but have nothing to do with the design I’m working on.

And the Journey Begins...
Hey everybody!!
Welcome to my blog! My name is Monica Inacio. I was born here in Toronto then moved to Portugal when I was just 5 years old and returned back within the last year. I was lucky to gain some cultural and artistic experiences while living in Portugal. And now learning more of what I love here... Design.
This class will be definitely be intriguing. I think the process to discover the theory of Design will be challenging but at the same time insightful. I’m hoping to take in all I can from this class and use this knowledge in my future projects, designs and career.
